Distressed Denim For Summer

Deconstruct that denim. For summer, a go-to staple piece for weekend nights and cooler days is distressed denim. Complete your look with a simple lightweight tank or tee, pointed toe heels and minimal jewelry for a sexy statement. Light-washed denim is the best choice, so look for styles in a faded blue or white wash in both skinny and boyfriend cuts. Here are some of my top picks:

Inspired- Cannes 2014 Red Carpet

First off, Blake Lively killed it on the red carpet. Almost every time she stepped into those flashing lights, the results were flawless. Three of her looks which I love the most are her Giambattista Couture asymmetric mini dress with floral beaded embellishments, Gucci Premiere black & cream color-blocked Old Hollywood inspired gown, and Gucci Premiere burgundy chiffon gown with a raised neckline and thigh high split.

A red carpet stunner, the ever elegant Jessica Chastain wore Atelier Versace. She looked impeccable in this one shoulder cobalt blue silk gown. And, her matchy-matchy risk in footwear really complements the dress and exaggerates the blue theme. So gorgeous.

Another standout at the festival was Karlie Kloss in Valentino. This lace Victorian Era inspired gown was perfect for the Cannes elegant backdrop. Her soft updo and smokey eye makeup complete the look seamlessly.

Rooney Mara took a minimal chic approach at the Calvin Klein Collection & Euphoria Calvin Klein Celebrate Women in Film party, wearing a chic strapless white ensemble, ankle strapped heels, neutral eye makeup and a bold red lip. Perfection.

Liya Kebede rocked a Roberto Cavalli embellished mini with a plunging neckline at the premiere of “Mr. Turner.” I’m absolutely obsessed with this statement dress, especially styled with those thin ankle strapped heels and long loose curls. And I can’t forget the best accessory, girl has got legs for days.

Best Dressed- Met Ball

The Met Gala is one of New York’s finest and most treasured events held every year at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to fundraise for the museum’s Costume Institute. Last night, the red carpet sparkled with modern looks across the spectrum from feminine to edgy. My favorite looks of the night were Suki Waterhouse, Rihanna, Cara Develingne, and Emma Stone.

Suki Waterhouse wins it for best dressed in my opinion. She embodied a glamourous ballerina in a stunning pale pink and nude silk organza Burberry Prorsum gown. Her bold red lip and messy chignon drew contrast from the lightness of the dress for a truly stunning look. This is one of Suki’s most sophisticated looks ever and one of her best.

I absolutely loved Rihanna in Stella McCartney. She was daring, bold and sexy. The full midriff baring white two-piece ensemble paired seamlessly with her tousled curl up-do for an unforgettable fashion statement.

With the same cropped theme, Cara Develingne rocked the carpet in another Stella McCartney creation. A black wide strapped crop paired with white trousers was the ultimate alternative to any gown. Cara did the look justice with side swept hair, minimal yet stand-out jewelry and smoky eyes.

My last and final favorite of the night was Emma stone in a gorgeous pink Thakoon creation. Like Rihanna and Cara, Emma also opted for a cropped look but mixed two shades of pink for the tank and floor length skirt. The thigh high split, metallic ankle strap heel and clutch added elegant drama and her side braid was phenomenal. Love.
